Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actress who works on TV and in films is best known for films such as Rush and Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Born as the only daughter of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra entered showbiz early and landed up performing lead roles in various shows on television by the time she reached the age of 16. In the Oscar nominated film Downfall, her role as Secretary Traudljunge, Adolf Hitler's secretary was also critically acclaimed. The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex are also Oscar nominated films that feature female stars. Alexandra is known for her work in numerous important projects in both the US as well as internationally. They include the British biographical Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and French historical mini-series Napoleon as well as other miniseries. She was also part of the jury for the Transylvania International Film Festival, as well as at the Cannes Film Festival.
